A New Pepper Variety from Hazera Genetics Named Ra’am

New pepper variety with excellent fruit quality.

Hazera Genetics launches a new pepper variety by the name of Ra’am. The Ra’am variety is intended for planting during the spring months.

The variety is intended for cultivation inside protected structures: plastic tunnels, plastic greenhouses and net houses. It is recommended that this variety be grown in medium to heavy soil, and in the case of sandy soil – it is important to use a fertilizer mix that was developed especially for this variety, named Ra’am.

According to Itzik Ezra, the Israel Market Director: “This is a compact plant with large, high-quality fruit. Ra’am was developed and is marketed in the Israeli market thanks to its resistance under extremely harsh climatic conditions”. Ezra added: “the variety was developed in response to demand by growers for a fruit that ripens even under severe conditions, and maintains its size and firmness on the one hand, and on the other hand in response to the demand of retail chains for an attractive fruit with a smooth texture and intense color”.

The planting of this variety begins in February, and it is designated for the Besor district and Sharon region. As said, Ra’am is characterized by its high yield, and boasts a high quality fruit that is firm and has an intense red color, and is also resistant to TSWV (wilt virus).
