Israel and Nigeria to Increase Strategic Cooperation in Agricultural and Economic development

Nigeria's wish to increase cooperation with Israeli companies in the fields of

 Recently the agricultural ministers of Israel and Nigeria, Yair Shamir and Akinwumi Adesina,
signed a joint declaration in the Nigerian capital Abuja calling for increased agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
This cooperation includes help by Israel for Nigeria to increase the amount of land under cultivation, achieve greater water use and efficiency, to improve crop quality and provide advanced training for professionals engaging in agriculture.
The agreement will in return also provide opportunities for Israeli companies in agricultural, infrastructure and construction projects in one of Africa’s largest and most populated countries.

Nigeria’s growing economy has invested more than $4 million in agricultural projects during 2013.

The Israeli delegation led by Yair Shamir, the Minister of Agriculture met with the Nigerian president, foreign minister and the country’s minister for water and noted Nigeria’s wish to increase cooperation with Israeli companies in the fields of agriculture, water, renewable energy, homeland security, telecommunications and IT
