Hazera Genetics presented Cluster Tomatoes for Greenhouses

Two new cluster tomato varieties: Odelia and Magnolia

at the r&d open day agricultural festival, held on december 17th, hazera genetics introduced two new cluster tomato varieties: odelia and magnolia – varieties grown in clusters, delivering value to the entire food and supply chain: growers – robust varieties with high yields, picked in clusters, thus cutting labor costs, retail chains – that sell extra-red premium tomatoes to the consumer, who buys a red, ripe tomato that has matured and achieved the perfect flavor and sweetness to delight the palate.

odelia is a cluster variety that can provide high yields over a long season. odelia tomatoes have excellent fruit and stalk shelf life, and offer additional advantages due to their picking ease and workforce savings.
magnolia is a cluster variety with a very strong plant that can produce high yields with high resistance throughout its long growing season. magnolia contains genes for resistance to the tswv virus that is common in springtime.

according to itzik ezra, the israeli market director at hazera genetics: “hazera focuses on the growers and their needs, and continually works to develop varieties that will meet their requirements, while providing the end-customer with added value”.
hazera will also present the whitney and maggie boutique tomatoes, characterized by their unique premium flavor. maggie and whitney are currently sold throughout the mega retail chain, and in the near future will be available in additional chains.
tomatoes offer a wealth of health benefits, some of which are due to the lycopene that is responsible for their red color.

numerous studies have found that lycopene has a positive impact on the prevention of heart and vascular disease, and prevention of cancer. odelia and adel tomatoes are grown in greenhouses and marketed in clusters, thus protecting the tomatoes firmness.
these varieties were developed especially for the israeli summer and are available only in israel. hazera genetics recommends that consumers pick the tomatoes off the shelf in clusters, since studies show that ripening on a stalk improves the tomato’s flavor as well as its nutritional values. hazera genetics is a leading global player in breeding, production and marketing of hybrid seeds for vegetables, and is outstanding in its advanced r&d, global distribution and agro-technical support. the company, that has been operating for over 70 years, is constantly developing products that address changing market demands.
